Why eBay plus Kijiji
eBay is search- and shipping-driven. A buyer in another city can find the item by brand, model or part number. Kijiji is local and classifieds-driven: someone nearby can message you and pick it up the same day.
That is a real split in buyer behaviour, not two copies of the same audience. Furniture, bikes, appliances and “too heavy to ship” inventory often sell faster on Kijiji. Collectibles, branded electronics and anything with a searchable SKU often do better on eBay.
What actually differs
| Area | eBay | Kijiji |
|---|---|---|
| How buyers find it | Search, item specifics, sold comps | City browse, category, map / nearby |
| Typical deal | Shipped, paid through eBay | Pickup, e-transfer or cash |
| Fees | Selling + payment fees (check current eBay.ca schedule) | Ordinary Buy & Sell ads are typically free |
| Title | Precise: brand, model, condition, key spec | Readable and local: what it is, neighbourhood if useful |
| Location | Shipping profile / handling time | Pickup city/area for this ad, not the last one you posted |
| After a sale | End the listing on the site | Remove or mark the ad so locals stop messaging |

A practical workflow
- Import the cleaner listing (often the eBay one) into SyncListing, or create the master there.
- On eBay, review condition, item specifics, shipping and returns before you publish.
- On Kijiji, confirm category, pickup city and a shorter, conversational description.
- Save each live URL on the card when the site gives you one.
SyncListing fills the fields it can map. Categories, shipping and Kijiji location still need a human look.
Price and fees
Do not copy the Kijiji cash price onto eBay without adding room for fees and shipping. The reverse is also true: an eBay “all-in” price can look high to a local buyer who will drive over.
Use your own fee estimate before you post. Marketplace fee charts change; treat any number you read online as a starting point and confirm on the site.
After the sale
The first sold copy wins. If Kijiji sells tonight, end or remove the eBay listing before another buyer pays. SyncListing can show which sites are still marked live and walk you through De-list. It does not delete the marketplace ad for you.
When to skip a site
Skip eBay when the item is not worth packing or the category is dead for shipped goods. Skip Kijiji when you are not willing to meet buyers or the item only makes sense as a national search listing.
Common questions
Does SyncListing post to eBay and Kijiji for me?
No. It fills each create form. You review shipping or pickup, then click Post on that site.
Should the Kijiji price match the eBay price?
Usually not. eBay selling and payment fees plus shipping mean a higher ask is common. Kijiji local pickup can stay closer to the cash price you actually want.
What if Kijiji keeps the city from my last ad?
Check the location field before you publish. SyncListing prefers the pickup city on that listing so you are not stuck with the previous ad’s area.
